TOWN OF SOUTHEAST, NY — Fortunately, there were no serious injuries, but a mess on the highway caused headaches for Hudson Valley drivers.
The New York State Police say that on Monday, around 11:43 a.m., troopers responded to I-84 west, in the Town of Southeast, after receiving a report of a collision between two tractor-trailers.
Accident investigators say a 2003 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, driven by 60-year-old Pedro R. Burgos, of Brooklyn, was entering I-84 west, from the I-684/Route 9W ramp, when it failed to maintain its lane and overturned, blocking both westbound lanes.
A 2026 Freightliner, driven by 26-year-old Dominic Patterson, of Lumberton, New Jersey, was traveling west on I-84, when it attempted to avoid the overturned tractor-trailer, entered the median, and overturned.
State police say both drivers received non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
