8-Time Convicted Felon Gets 7 Years In Putnam County Drug Case

MAHOPAC, NY — An eight-time loser will spend years behind bars following his latest felony drug trafficking conviction.

A Mahopac man was sentenced to seven years in prison followed by three years of post-release supervision in a Putnam County drug case, according to Putnam County District Attorney Robert Tendy. Omar Miles, 47, was sentenced Aug. 19, after pleading guilty in June to one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The charge stemmed from a Dec. 22, 2025, arrest following what the district attorney described as a joint investigation by the Carmel Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit. Detectives spent several months investigating people selling cocaine out of a Mahopac home on Union Valley Road.

A search warrant executed at the residence on Dec. 22, 2025, recovered illegal pills, cocaine, and equipment used to prepare narcotics for sale, according to the district attorney's announcement. Miles had more than 1/8 of an ounce of cocaine on him at the time of his arrest.

"Miles is now an 8-time convicted felon who was last convicted by a Putnam jury in 2018 of multiple felony narcotics charges," Tendy said. "His parole supervision for that conviction ended on August 18, 2025, just months before this arrest. Our local law enforcement agencies and prosecutors work around the clock to keep career criminals like Miles off the streets of Putnam County. This was a well-orchestrated investigation and a strong case that resulted in a negotiated plea and much-deserved lengthy state prison sentence."

The investigations were conducted and arrests made by the Carmel Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Breanne Smith. The co-defendant's charges were still pending as of the district attorney's Sept. 1 announcement.
