The ad hoc weekend rodeo in Putnam County took place when the 700-lb Scottish Highland cow made a stand on Route 301 in Putnam County.

CARMEL, NY — Police were pressed into duty when livestock turned fugitive in Putnam County.

On Saturday morning, officers reported for duty in Mahopac when Maggie, a 700-lb Scottish Highland cow (and new resident of Little Cabin's Farm), decided to go rogue. The bovine adventure began with the cow checking out the neighborhood, eventually turning the morning drive along Route 301 into a cattle drive, before she was eventually corralled by officers using techniques Roy Rogers would be proud of.
