April 24 Crash on I-84 Near Ludingtonville Road

The driver of a car lost control and a tractor-trailer hit her.

New York State Police from the East Fishkill barracks responded April 24 to a two-car accident that occurred on Interstate 84, just east of Ludingtonville Road.

Investigation revealed that a 2012 Jeep, operated by Myra Babar, 27, of East Fishkill, NY, was traveling eastbound on the Interstate. Babar failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and exited the southern shoulder. The Jeep subsequently struck a rock embankment before coming to rest in the driving lane of Interstate 84.

A 2007 tractor-trailer, operated by Eric D. Brooks, 31, of Perry, GA, was also traveling eastbound on Interstate 84. The tractor-trailer was unable to avoid striking the Jeep and both vehicles exited the roadway.

Babar was transported by Air Life Net to Westchester Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.

The crash closed Interstate 84 eastbound for approximately 6 hours and was reconstructed by the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
