Au Pairs Learn from Volunteer Firefighters

Girls from around the world who are working with Cultural Care Au Pair visited the South Salem Fire Department.

SOUTH SALEM, NY — A group from Cultural Care Au Pair was hosted by the South Salem Fire Department for a Home Safety Presentation and tour of the Fire House on Jan. 11. There were girls in attendance from several European countries including Sweden, as well as Australia/New Zealand, and South Africa.

The girls learned about what to do in an emergency and discussed the cultural differences of emergency management in different areas of the world. The girls learned about safety and had fun at the same time.

The South Salem Fire Department's Steve Creedon set up the evening and along with fellow firefighter Tom Mertens gave the presentation.
