Back to School: Wells Middle School Reopens

But drop-off and pick-up locations are changed

BREWSTER, NY — A temporary generator was connected to the critical systems at Wells Middle School in Brewster after two days without power due to the failure of a main electrical line.

So district officials were happy to announced that Wells would resume normal operating hours Friday.

"All systems are fully functional, including our phone, internet, alarm, security cameras, heat, water, and lighting." said Superintendent Valerie Henning-Piedmonte in a letter to parents.

Due to the location of the repairs, the drop-off and pick-up location has been temporarily changed to the main entrance of C.V. Starr on Farm to Market Road.

Work will continue over the next few days to complete the permanent repair.

"We look forward to welcoming our WMS students and staff back to the building and resuming normal operations," Henning-Piedmonte said. "Thank you again for your patience, cooperation and assistance during this unforeseen disruption."

Officials are working with the district's insurers to file a claim necessary to recoup the expenses associated with the damage and repairs.
