They are for seniors, veterans, and volunteer firefighters and ambulance corps members.

from the Brewster school district

On February 28, 2023, the Board of Education of the Brewster Central School District approved an expansion of certain property tax exemptions for seniors, veterans and volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers in recognition of their dedication and service to our community.

"The district is pleased to have the opportunity to consider increases in property tax exemptions for qualifying senior citizens, veterans and volunteers in our district. These groups have contributed significantly to our community in ways that cannot be measured and we are pleased that we can recognize their contribution in this way," said Board of Education President Kerry Cunningham.

Victor Karlsson, Assistant for Finance & Operations, added “this is an opportune time to expand the benefits of these exemptions, given the financial challenges our residents are facing due to rising inflation. The district’s current financial position affords the opportunity to hold the tax levy to a 0% increase for the 2023-24 budget, which will greatly help to mitigate the impact of any tax shift on our remaining residents.”
