Brewster Considering Schools Improvement Project

Editor's Note: Brewster's Pre-Bond Committee considered a classroom addition to CV Starr Intermediate School and an addition at J.F.K. Elementary School but those projects are no longer under consideration. Information was out-of-date in the original version of this article.

BREWSTER, NY — Brewster's Pre-Bond Committee has recommended a set of projects to be undertaken to renovate, repair and upgrade the district's schools.

Of the original $138 million contemplated as “wish list” items, the committee cut out the lowest priority projects it considered. Several were selected for the school board's consideration.

Bond Proposition 1:

• BCS Scope of Work Items
• C.V. Staff cafetorium
• HS Track and Field and HS Security Vestibule

Bond Proposition 2:

• New HS Fieldhouse with related HS interior alterations

The committee recommended that voters be asked to approve the work in two propositions; the first would have to pass for the work in the second proposition to be done.

The Brewster Board of Education may adopt a resolution authorizing a capital improvement project bond referendum at its Jan. 24 meeting. The community would then be asked to vote on the bond on March 21.
