Brewster Native Honored by SUNY Oneonta Music Department

Haley Tuohy, of Brewster, was selected to receive a 2016 Academic Achievement Award this spring by the SUNY Oneonta Music Department.

Haley Tuohy of Brewster, NY, was one of 54 outstanding SUNY Oneonta students selected to receive a 2016 Academic Achievement Award this spring. Each academic department or program selected one to three outstanding seniors to receive the award.

Tuohy received the Music Department award.

To be considered for the award, a student must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 in his or her major and must demonstrate exceptional academic improvement over four semesters, as well as excellence in research; leadership and involvement in department, campus and community activities; and/or participation in academic and/or professional situation outside the college.

Tuohy served as public relations assistant and executive board member for the Music Industry Club, and event coordinator for the Global Movement Festival. She has received many recognitions for academic excellence, including three semesters on the dean's list, the Alan B. Donovan Scholarship, a D'Antonio Student Excellence Travel Grant, a Student Travel for Excellence Program Grant, a Global Connectedness Fund Award and the Susan Sutton Smith Award for Academic Excellence. She spent the spring 2016 semester studying event management at Florence University of the Arts in Italy.
