Brewster Residents Overbilled For Water
Either residents can get a credit on their next bill or call the village for the correct amount to pay.
BREWSTER, NY — In the throes of converting to a new billing system at the same time that water rates are going up, village officials charged Brewster residents the new rate for water consumed from March to April 15.
That should not have happened. "The new rates were put in place April 15, 2020, and the usage prior to that date should have been charged at the old rate," village officials wrote in a letter to residents.
If you've already paid the bill that's due Aug. 3, you will get a credit on your October water bill. If you haven't, you have a choice: either pay the bill you've got and get a credit on the next bill, or call the village, learn the correct bill total, and pay that.
