Voter Turnout Higher For Brewster School Board Election, Budget Vote
District residents went to the polls Tuesday for the second time this year.
BREWSTER, NY — Brewster school district voters on Tuesday narrowly approved the annual budget and elected two people to the Board of Education.
While incumbent Kerry Cunningham won comfortably, the second seat was won by Melissa Stasi Finateri by only 22 votes. The results from the district clerk:
- Kristin Cacal: 459
- Kerry Cunningham: 742
- Melissa Stasi Finateri: 589
- Carrie Hernandez: 567
Voters also approved/rejected a $115.7 million budget for 2023-24 with a zero increase in the property tax levy.

The vote was 826 yes to 525 no.
Turnout was higher Tuesday than it had been in March when voters approved the district's $83 million school improvement project.
