Brewster Starts New School Year with New Administrators

New superintendent, high school principal and more

BREWSTER, NY — Brewster starts out the 2016-17 school year with big changes at the top. Not only is this the start of things for the new schools superintendent, Valerie Henning-Piedmonte, but five other new administrators have been hired and another one will be hired soon.

  • Ms. Michelle Gosh, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
  • Ms. Nikki Horler, Principal of Brewster High School
  • Ms. Joyce Long, Director of Pupil Personnel Services
  • Mr. John Clark, Acting Principal of the HH Wells Middle School
  • Mr. Harvey Schnall, Acting Assistant Principal of the HH Wells Middle School

In addition, there will be a new assistant principal at CV Starr. Nancy Ferrarone, the Assistant Principal at the CV Starr Intermediate School, will be leaving the district to become the new Elementary Principal in Spackenkill.

"We will appoint an Acting Assistant Principal before Ms. Ferrarone leaves, which allows us to conduct interviews and appoint a new permanent assistant principal," Henning-Piedmonte said in her welcome message on the district's new website.

Henning-Piedmonte started Aug. 1. As school board President Stephen Jambor said July 14 when announcing her appointment:

the Board feels that we have the person who best matches the needs of the District at this time. Valerie has an intimate knowledge of our Strategic plan as well as the key partners who worked with us to construct it. As such, she will enable us to have a seamless transition moving forward. Her philosophy of education embraces the growth and development of Every Child, values that we see at the very core of our educational Mission. As we look ahead to the future of this district, the Board is proud to have Dr. Henning at the helm.
