Brewster: Steven Parlato Headlines November Saturday Scribes

The Saturday Scribes welcomes writer Steven Parlato to its monthly gathering on Saturday, November 8th. The program will be held from 7-9 p.m. at the Studio Around the Corner, 67 Main Street, in Brewster, New York.

The evening will begin with an Open Mic session, followed by the headliner.

Steven Parlato is a writer, illustrator, occasional actor, and assistant professor of English at Naugatuck Valley Community College. Parlato’s poetry appears in MARGIE, Borderlands, Freshwater, CT River Review and Peregrine. His debut YA manuscript, JUNIOR, winner of the 2011 Tassy Walden Award for New Voices, was released in 2013 by Merit Press as The Namesake. Kirkus Reviews called the novel a “memorable, disturbing story, carefully wrought.”

Parlato is also an occasional actor whose stage roles have run the gamut from Macbeth to The Scarecrow to Bambi’s Dad, the Great Prince of the Forest.
