Brewster Theater Company 2015 Season Kicks off With 'God of Carnage'
The very unruly side of being an adult -- 'happy, hysterical chaos'

From the Brewster Theater Company
What happens when two sets of parents meet up to deal with the unruly behavior of their children? A calm and rational debate between grown-ups about the need to teach kids how to behave properly or a hysterical night of name-calling, tantrums and tears before bedtime? Boys will be boys, but adults are usually worse -- much worse – and The Brewster Theater Company’s first production of 2015, GOD OF CARNAGE, is here to show you the very unruly side of being an adult.
GOD OF CARNAGE by Yasmina Reza, a 2009 Tony Award® winner for Best Play, has a great cast of locals to portray the explosiveness in this show.

Judy Brewster, who plays the role of Veronica, can get a bit out of control. “Veronica believes she is in control and is fiercely protective of her children. As she tries to save the world and her family, this deeply passionate character slowly unravels before your eyes. She is a very challenging character.”
The show has only four characters (Ms. Brewster, Lori Franzese, Stephen A Ross, Vincent LaRusso) -- two married couples who start out very civil and then somehow become entangled in a vicious dispute they cannot seem to escape.

The production is directed by Christopher Gladysz, a veteran director of many successful Brewster Theater Company shows. “These characters fight the urge to become uncivilized. The emotions in the show are both real and raw. It turns into a fit of happy, hysterical chaos. What is better than that?”
The Brewster Theater Company is one of the area’s most successful community theater groups and has been around since 2000.
In 2014, the company took a small hiatus to re-organize and expand the Board and to attract new members. Stacy Dumont, who is President of the organization, was appreciative of the break. “We are always looking for volunteers we had grown to the point of needing more board members and volunteers to take on more specific responsibilities.” The Board is comprised of all unpaid local volunteers. “We accomplished our goal and have some great, new board members. I am glad to say we are back in 2015 with a great season of shows.”
GOD OF CARNAGE is their first large scale production since 2013. The show will be performed at Blue Stone Farms, formerly the Melrose School, in Brewster. Performance dates are February 20, 21, 22 and February 26, 27, 28.
Tickets can be purchased at their website at www.BrewsterTheaterCompany.org or call 845 232 0739. February 21st will be a dinner/theater show. Reservations are highly recommended as the venue has limited seating. For Groups of ten (10) or more, please contact 845 232 0739 for a group rate.
