Brewster Trustees Working on Main Street Trash Issue

Trash in the village's downtown became a heated social media topic.

Brewster village trustees are working on a solution to overfull trash cans on Main Street.

A issue sparked a heated discussion on the VOB Facebook page, which included some comments bemoaning overall deterioration of the village, some blaming illegal immigrants, and others calling the latter bigots.

A follow-up was posted by Trustee Christine Piccini:

We did discuss this problem at our last Board meeting. Terri Stockburger, Sanitation Commissioner, was following up with our Highway Supervisor to place additional trash cans at problem spots. Our sanitation company, Suburban Carting, was of the opinion that additional receptacles would go a long way toward alleviating the eyesore. Bottom line: we are trying to remediate this problem.
