SOUTHEAST, NY — Members of the Brewster VFW have an ongoing project: to make sure that every veteran of the U.S. Armed Services who is buried in the town of Southeast has a gravesite flagholder. There are many without them, and the VFW knows, because every year leading up to Memorial Day, they are among the volunteers placing fresh flags on each vet's grave.

If you know of a friend or family member who is buried in the town of Southeast and does not have a gravemarker, please let the Brewster VFW know. You can email HQ@vfwpost672.org. Call or text Steven Mattson at 845-629-6925.

The flagholders are installed by volunteers, as both time and money allow. There is no charge. The flagholders are made of bronze and are cemented into the ground.
