Brooklyn Woman Charged with Felony Assault in Putnam

A coffee cup and a flashlight are among the weapons allegedly used.

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Brooklyn woman on a felony charge of assault.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 report of a dispute in progress at 374 Bullet Hole Road in Patterson at 11:17 a.m. March 6. There the deputies said they encountered a man who had been bleeding profusely.

In their investigation, they concluded that Erin J. Spillane, 36, of 593 Central Avenue, Brooklyn, New York had thrown a coffee cup at the man which struck him in the forehead and injured him. Spillane is also alleged to have punched the man and used a flashlight to strike him.

Deputies arrested Spillane and charged her with Assault in the Second Degree, a felony. She was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment. The man was transported via Patterson Fire Department Ambulance to Putnam Hospital Center for emergency medical treatment.

If found guilty of the felony charge, she could face up to seven years in a New York State Correctional facility and a fine up to $5,000.
