CARMEL, NY – Brewster Theater Company brings the eccentricities of family and the love of living a full life to its staging of the classic comedy “You Can’t Take It With You.” BTC’s production, on its home stage at Drew United Methodist Church’s Sloat Hall, features the close-knit Vanderhof family pursuing their, often odd, ambitions at home. However, their routine is disrupted when a daughter with a regular job wants to bring her fiancé and his Wall Street family to dinner.

“I'm very appreciative of the opportunity to work with this group,” Friedman said. “I'm very impressed with them as an organization.”

While the play premiered more than 80 years ago, Mr. Friedman noted it’s as relevant today as it was in 1936. “People should come and see this production because it's a classic American comedy and, although it is dated, it has never gotten stale. It's one of the templates for all of the stage comedies that have come after it,” Mr. Friedman said.

The cast

The show is being co-produced by Stacy Dumont of Patterson, Jenna Isabella of Ossining and Brandy Hughes of Danbury, Conn. Set designer and artistic director for this production is Christopher Gladysz of Brewster and New York City. Stage manager is Kait Balfe of Brewster.

The cast features Robert Ansbro of Mahopac; Nate Brewster of Brewster; Emma Burke-Covitz of Carmel; Jenna Isabella of Ossining; Vincent LaRusso of Brewster; Stephen Zerilli of Carmel; P.J. Mansfield of Stormville; Carolyn McCarthy of Brewster; Sean O'Hara of Carmel; Marty Posner of Patterson; Diane Preston of Mahopac; Stephen Ross of Carmel; Patricia Sebastian of Mahopac; Ken Shelby; Leigh Trifari; Trevor Latasa; Sean Latasa and Laurel Lettieri.
