Old Town Hall Theater

It is springtime at last, and the Cultural Arts Coalition’s Old Town Hall Theatricals are kicking off the season
with a madcap romp both new and timeless. Sandy Rustin’s 2013 play The Cottage will be presented in
historic Old Town Hall Theater on April 17, 18, 24, and 25 at 7:30 p.m. and April 19 at 2 p.m.

The Cottage is set in the English countryside in 1923. As the dwindling Victorian Era gives way to scandals of
various proportions, Cupid’s arrow takes a misguided path into the indiscretions of two brothers, their
headstrong spouses, and a lightheaded young woman whose ex-husband has promised revenge by murder.
The unexpected wins the day in this delightful comedy from the playwright who penned the stage adaption of
the cult-hit film Clue.

Jill Paxton, founding member of The Theatricals, said she chose the play for the spring production because it
offers a break from a long winter and from the pressures of our times. “Laughter is cathartic and recharges the
batteries,” she said, “and we sure could use a healthy dose of that these days, right?”

A nod to Noël Coward and sex comedies of the past, this showcase of laughs, twists and zany physical
comedy is not to be missed.

The production is directed by Gabriella Montanaro and stars Paxton, Gabriel Montanaro, Colleen White, Jason
Fogarty, Carlie Zucker and Gabriel Dunn. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at Cultural Arts Coalition’s

The Remembrance Parade
The Cannon Ridge Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, is pleased to invite you to the Remembrance Parade featuring Gold's Dragoons, The Governor's Horse Guards and Mt. Kisco Scottish Pipe and Drum Corps. &nbsp;This America 250 commemoration honors the Patriots and veterans who supported the cause of American independence, and remembers the sacrifices made at the Battle of Ridgefield. The Parade is free and open to all. &nbsp;We encourage everyone in our community to join as we pause to reflect on our shared American history during the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.&nbsp;
The parade will commence at 12 noon on April 25th from Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church on Main Street ending at the Battle of Ridgefield memorial plaque in Ballard Park with a wreath laying ceremony honoring:
Patriots and Veterans who supported American Independence, particularly at the Battle of Ridgefield &nbsp;
Lieutenant Colonel Abraham Gould, a Gold's Dragoon killed during the Battle of Ridgefield&nbsp;
British troops buried on the battlefield who fell in honorable service to their King
The sold out Black Tie Remembrance Ball will commence at 6pm in the Lounsbury House.&nbsp;

The Brewster Carmel Garden Club is holding its annual plant sale featuring an outstanding selection of annuals, perennials, herbs, hanging baskets and potted planters. Our plants are grown at Kurtz Farms in Cheshire, CT, and are of exceptional quality. The 2026 event will be held at Lake Tonetta Park, 140 Pumphouse Road, Brewster, on Wednesday, May 6, with pick-up times from 1 - 4 PM. Orders placed are to be paid for on the day of pick up by either CASH or CHECK. This event is our club’s annual fundraiser. We are active in the community as sponsors of two scholarships to students from Carmel HS and Brewster HS who plan to pursue studies in horticulture or related environmental sciences. We are delighted to conduct educational programs on gardening in the evenings at both Reed and Kent Libraries. We also purchase plants, maintain and beautify Milltown Cemetery, Brewster Library, the Honor Roll in Brewster, Southeast Town Hall, and the Bluestar Memorial at the train station. In Carmel we maintain the Reed Memorial Library, Carmel Cornerstone Park, the Sybil Ludington statue, the Blue Star Memorial, and the County and Law Offices. In addition, we have a garden therapy program at Putnam Hospital. We decorate and donate wreaths to honor the veterans, decorate the Walter Brewster House at Christmas along with the Christmas Tree at Putnam Hospital, and we create centerpieces for the Friends of Kent Library for their annual holiday fundraiser. Cornell Cooperative Extension Putnam County will hold our 2026 Master Gardener Volunteer May Plant Sale at Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park, 201 Gipsy Trail Road, Carmel, NY.
The plant sale will feature a huge selection of bulbs, herbs, container garden vegetables and native plants that support pollinators, picked by Master Gardeners for Putnam County gardens. Carefully chosen vegetable seedlings will be available singly or in multi-packs to allow gardeners try several different varieties. The sale will also include garden favorites such as colorful perennials, summer-flowering bulbs, native pollinator plants and herbs. Pre-planted vegetable garden containers will be available for that perfect Mother’s Day present. The proceeds from this charity event fund numerous CCE-Putnam programs.
