Wednesday, July 29th with another exciting evening of free live music featuring local favorite The Jon Bates Band with opening artist Laura Elliott.&nbsp; Music lovers of all ages will enjoy their energetic blend of soul, rock, R&amp;B, jazz and popular favorites. The concert will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the gazebo in Veterans Memorial Park in Brewster. In case of rain, the event will be held at Tom and Jerry's Bar and Grill, also in Brewster.

Local Brewster resident Jon Bates is the common thread who – as he describes it – "was blessed with the extraordinary friendships and opportunities that gave me a chance to bring this world-class group of musicians and vocalists together as a working unit.”&nbsp; Throughout his career, Bates became well known as a music contractor and producer, assembling performers for concerts, festivals, corporate events, and clubs around the world. Because clients, producers, agents, promoters, and event planners consistently turned to Jon to create exceptional musical experiences, this collection of outstanding talent naturally became known as The Jon Bates Band.

The current lineup showcases an extraordinary group of accomplished musicians, each with impressive careers of their own. The band features powerhouse lead vocalists Steve Riddick and Debbie Major, joined by acclaimed saxophonist, flutist, and vocalist Scott Harper. The dynamic rhythm section includes gifted keyboardist and vocalist Akie Bermiss, guitarist Ken McGloin, bassist Bill Dotts, and Jon Bates on drums and vocals.

Opening the evening is Laura Elliott, a rising indie singer-songwriter from New York's Hudson Valley. Known for her acclaimed EPs Car Sick and People Pleaser, Elliott's heartfelt songwriting explores themes of love, loss, and resilience through honest, emotionally engaging performances. Her fresh, contemporary sound provides the perfect opening for an unforgettable night of music.

Now in its seventh of eight concerts, the Brewster Summer Music Series continues to bring outstanding local, regional, and nationally recognized musicians to downtown Brewster. Presented by the Town of Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition, the free, family-friendly concerts invite residents and visitors alike to gather for great music and community spirit.&nbsp; Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of exceptional live entertainment under the summer sky. Another memorable summer season will close out on Wednesday, August 5th with female salsa band Lulada Club.

The Brewster Summer Music Series is one of many programs of the Town of Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and sustaining cultural arts in the region. Since 2010, the Coalition has led the restoration of the historic Southeast Old Town Hall while presenting hundreds of cultural events through the Studio Around the Corner, the Old Town Hall Theater, and other local venues. The Brewster Summer Music Series invites the community to celebrate the final
concert of the 2026 season on	Wednesday, August 5	, with an unforgettable evening featuring	Lulada Club , an electrifying all-women salsa orchestra bringing the vibrant sounds of Cali, Colombia, to New

York City—and now to Brewster. Led by vocalist and musical director	Andrea Chavarro	, Lulada Club has quickly become one of New York

City's most exciting Latin music ensembles. Founded in 2022, the orchestra was inspired by Chavarro's hometown of	Cali, Colombia	, widely recognized as the world's salsa capital. Seeing a lack of women-led

salsa orchestras in New York's live music scene, she assembled a remarkable group of accomplished musicians to create a high-energy band that celebrates the rich traditions of tropical music while forgingits own distinctive sound.


Known for their dynamic performances, Lulada Club breathes new life into classic salsa, bolero, and cha-cha-cha while also performing original compositions that honor the music's legendary roots. Their infectious rhythms, exceptional musicianship, and joyful stage presence promise an evening of dancing and entertainment for audiences of all ages and experience levels.



To celebrate another successful season, the evening will also feature	Sponsor Recognition Night	,honoring the local businesses whose generous support made the 2026 Brewster Summer Music Seriespossible. The series will also recognize its Community Partners, including	Brewster Cares	, which will be collecting non-perishable food donations to help local families in need.



Bring your family, invite your friends, and join your neighbors for one final summer evening of great music, community spirit, and celebration. Whether you're an experienced salsa dancer or simply looking for a fun night out, Lulada Club will provide the perfect finale to another outstanding Brewster Summer Music Series season.

The Brewster Carmel Garden Club Standard Flower Show entitled "America the Beautiful--250 Years" will be held Friday, Aug. 21 from 2 - 4:00 pm and&nbsp; Saturday, August 22 from 10 am - 4 pm.
The show will be located at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2103 Route 6, Brewster, NY.&nbsp; Enter on Old Route 6, turn on Husted Road where you'll see the church parking lot and entrance to the building.
In addition to displays of garden flowers, herbs, vegetables, potted plants, and terrariums, there will be educational displays, botanical arts creations and numerous floral arrangements vying for ribbons in this fun, competitive event.
A highlight of this free event is the club's incredible Chinese Auction where participants place their purchased raffle tickets in the bags in front of the item(s) they're interested in winning.
So, mark your calendars and plan to join the members of your local community gardeners at this totally free event. Whether you are an avid gardener or just want to see some breathtaking blooms and catch up with friends, there’s something for everyone. Come for the flowers, stay for the community!

Join us for the 15th Annual Putnam County Wine &amp; Music Fest at Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park (Upper), 201 Gipsy Trail Road, Carmel, NY. The event takes place on Saturday, August 22, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Sunday, August 23, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 2026.
Enjoy walk-around tastings from local restaurants and food trucks, specialty food vendors, arts and crafts, and live music from international and local artists across genres, including Reggae, Pop, Country, and Latin. Additional features include a cooking demonstration, beer tent, and children’s activities such as face painting, sand art, and cornhole.
