The 9th District of Federated Garden Clubs of NY State is thrilled to announce its upcoming flower show which will be held at Lasdon Park in Katonah, NY, on Friday, Oct.2 from 2 - 4 pm, Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 am - 3 pm, and Sunday, Oct. 4 from 10 am -2 pm.  "Autumn Splendor" will celebrate the beauty the season brings to our gardens, woodlands, and creative spirits.  The 18 garden clubs of the 9th district will feature members' floral designs, botanical arts and crafts, photography, horticultural specimens and educational displays. Please join us for this free event which will be held at the main house at Lasdon Park, located at 2610 Amawalk Road, Route 35 in Katonah, NY.

The Studio Around The Corner

Second Saturday drum circles continue in the Studio Around the Corner. Drum circles are rooted in a long tradition of communal music-making that fosters unity, expression,
and belonging. Guided by Joshua 2, this inclusive, all-levels experience invites participants to set
intentions, connect through rhythm, and experience the grounding and uplifting power of collective
sound.

Joshua 2 is a multidisciplinary artist, musician, and shamanic energy healer whose work spans visual art,
performance, music, community arts, and teaching. A lifelong creative, his artistic path has included theater,
fine art, fashion illustration, blues and gospel-influenced music, and community-based arts projects focused on
healing, inclusion, and social connection. A recent visit to his ancestral homeland of Nigeria renewed his
commitment to drumming as a powerful practice for building community and shared meaning.

All are welcome—no prior drumming experience required. Drums will be provided, or participants may bring their own. A
$10 donation is suggested.

Carmel High School

The Putnam Chorale announces the opening of registration for new and returning singers for its Fall 2026 semester. The 80-person community choir, entering its 42nd year, offers experienced and novice singers an opportunity to learn and perform vibrant classic and contemporary choral music.&nbsp;Singers can participate in rehearsals for free through the month of September, to ensure that the fit is right.&nbsp; If the singer wishes to continue, the semester tuition is $160 and includes all the required music. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings at the Carmel High School in Casey Hall, from 7pm to 9:30pm.&nbsp;Auditions are not required, except to place the singer in the appropriate section (Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass). Some experience singing with a choir or other musical group previously is preferred. This immersive event explores racial justice and moral responsibility through performances from the play “Not Disposable”. A multi-disciplinary production that uses spoken word, visual art, media and more. The event concludes in a panel discussion as well as a community dialogue examining art as activism and how creative expression can inspire understanding, conversation and collective action for social change.
On the walls on the Studio will be Steve Parlato's hard-hitting touring art show "They Are Not Disposable," a collection of collage portraits of slain victims of racial violence made with garbage and found objects.

The Jay Heritage Center in Rye, New York will celebrate America at 250 with a toast to Jay Medal honorees Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annette Gordon-Reed, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard University and award-winning Lincoln historian Harold Holzer.
The Jay Medal for Service was created in 2012 to recognize individuals who demonstrate a selfless spirit of commitment to and engagement with their community mirroring the multifaceted contributions of John Jay and his descendants. These honorees have demonstrated through their life's work that our shared narratives as a country, complicated as they are, can be better illuminated through the highest caliber of ongoing scholarship and advocacy. Honorees are selected for their excellence in the fields of American history, environmental stewardship, social justice or civic engagement.
Joining the celebration will be Chief Judge of the State of New York and the New York Court of Appeals, Honorable Rowan D. Wilson and historian and philanthropist Elihu Rose who will present the awards at JHC's annual Soirée. Special guests will include David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman, and Beverly Gage.

The Jay Medal Soirée will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Jay Estate from 5:30-9:30pm. Cocktails, dinner, award ceremony and dancing. Cocktail Attire.
