Carmel Man Accused of Stealing Antiques, Selling Them in Thrift Shop: Police

He's been charged with a felony.

Southeast, NY — State Police arrested a Carmel man who is accused of stealing from a Southeast woman’s home.

Carmine Baioni, 84, was charged with second-degree burglary, a felony.

Police said about $800 worth of items were reported missing from the woman’s Route 22 residence.

An investigation found that Baioni, who worked at a local thrift shop, had illegally entered the woman’s home and took the items, police said, adding that many of the items, some of which were antiques, were located for sale in the thrift shop.

Baioni was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and sent to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail or $5,000 bond.

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 18.
