Carmel Man Faces Felony DWI Charge

Police said he was driving with a suspended license for a previous alcohol-related offense.

CARMEL, NY — A Putnam County man was arrested for felony drunken driving in Somers. State police said George Gojcaj, 45, of Carmel, was charged with driving while intoxicated with two prior convictions and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, felonies, and use of a vehicle without an interlock device, a misdemeanor.

Around 11:35 p.m. Aug. 29, troopers stopped a Honda Civic for an infraction of the vehicle and traffic law on State Route 202.

The troopers' investigation found Gojcaj was operating under the influence of alcohol with a suspended license for an alcohol-related offense.

Gojcaj was also operating without a required interlock device, police said.

He was arraigned in the Town of Somers Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail.

Gojcaj is scheduled to reappear in court Sept. 10.
