A Chappaqua man faces a felony DWI charge in Southeast.
Putnam Deputy Sheriff Andrew Kristan responded at 1:05 p.m. Nov. 11 to a report of a property damage automobile accident on Route 6 in Southeast.
Police said Kristan concluded that one of the involved drivers, identified as Robert T. Schumann, 57, of 12 Locust Drive, Chappaqua, New York was intoxicated.

The deputy arrested Schumann and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The man’s charge was upgraded to a felony after it was determined that he had been previously convicted of DWI within a 10 year period.
Schumann was arraigned before Town of Southeast Justice Richard Vercollone and committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $750 cash bail pending a future court appearance to answer the charge.

If found guilty of the felony charge, the defendant could face up to four years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of up to $5,000.
