Civil Air Patrol Squadron plans open house
Young adults and parents are encouraged to attend a Civil Air Patrol open house in Carmel, NY.
The Putnam County Composite Squadron, local unit of the Civil Air Patrol, welcomes the public to an open house on Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Paladin Center, located at 39 Seminary Hill Road in Carmel, NY.
Members of the squadron will be present to greet visitors and explain the unique opportunities Civil Air Patrol offers to young adults, 12-18 years old, such as, aerospace and cyber education, leadership development, orientation flights, search and rescue training, and much more.
“The entire community is welcome to attend and learn more about Civil Air Patrol,” said squadron commander, Captain Elena MacDermant. Stop by and learn about one of the finest youth programs in America.

Civil Air Patrol, the longtime all-volunteer U.S. Air Force auxiliary, is the newest member of the Air Force’s Total Force. In this role, CAP operates a fleet of 560 aircraft, performs about 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and is credited by the AFRCC with saving an average of 80 lives annually. CAP’s 60,000 members also perform homeland security, disaster relief and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies.
