Leon Podkaminer, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday with his familyby his side.
He was born in White Plains on Nov. 9, 1922. to Sam and Jennie Podkaminer. He was a Master Mechanic, and co-owner of a Studebaker dealership in Brewster, with his brother Phil. He and his brother were proprietors of Brewster Bowling and Recreation Center, and Leon was a realtor with Kroll Realty in Fort Lauderdale.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Past president of Brewster Lions Club and lifetime member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #2101, Leon was also instrumental in the formation of the Town of Southeast Recreation Program. He was a loving brother of Ann (Harry) Eiseman, and Philip (Sadie) Podkaminer. His family includes his wife, Adele, of 64 years; a daughter, Jennifer Ganary; grandchildren Derek and Jessica Ganary; brother-in-law, Alan Heilpern; niece, Heather Heilpern Rose; nephews, Robert, Nathan, and Joel Podkaminer, Stuart and Steven Eiseman; and numerous great nieces and nephews —too many to name.
Loved by all, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, he will be missed by all.

A celebration of Leon's life was held on Tuesday at South Brevard Funeral Home (1001 South Hickory Street) in Melbourne, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to William Childs Hospice House (381 MedplexParkway, Palm Bay, FL, 32907) in memory of Leon Podkaminer.
