Cops: Arrested Man Is Repeat Shoplifter At Michael's

The man apparently can't stay away from arts and crafts.

SOUTHEAST, NY — A Bronx man accused of repeatedly stealing from Michael's stores has been arrested in Putnam County. Police allege he took more than $2,000 of merchandise from the Michael's store in Southeast.

On May 21, the New York State Police from the Brewster barracks charged Dennis J. Eisenberg, 55, with Burglary in the 3rd degree, a class D felony, and Grand Larceny in the 4th degree, a class E felony.

In April of 2018, state police began an investigation regarding Eisenberg allegedly stealing merchandise from the arts-and-crafts superstore on Independent Way. They learned that company officials had previously issued a cease and desist order on Eisenberg banning him from all Michael’s stores due to his previous arrests for larceny at Michael’s.

They allege that Eisenberg entered the Southeast Michael’s unlawfully, and stole over $2,000 worth of merchandise.

Eisenberg was arraigned before the town of Southeast Court, and sent to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. Eisenberg is next scheduled to appear before the Court on June 12.
