Cops: Drugs Found While Arresting Southeast Man

It was an unrelated charge, the Putnam County Sheriff said.

SOUTHEAST, NY — Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Southeast man on a drug possession charge.

On Dec. 20, 2016 at 2:43 a.m., while being taken into custody on an unrelated matter, Joseph Rizzieri, 38, of Southeast was determined to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine. Deputy Sheriff Kevin Radovich arrested the man and charged him with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a misdemeanor. He will be required to appear in the Town of Southeast Justice Court to answer the charge on a future date.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, he could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
