Cops: Man Put Nails in Patterson Resident's Driveway

The nails caused damage to the tires of the man's car, police allege.

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Patterson man on criminal charges following an investigation into two incidents.

At 12:10 p.m. Nov. 17, Deputy Sheriff Jonathan Irwin arrested Joseph Ettere, 35, of 550 Route 164, Patterson and charged him with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree and with Harassment in the First Degree, misdemeanors.

The arrest was the result of an investigation into two incidents (dated Nov. 11 and 12) in which nails were placed in the driveway of a Patterson man’s residence, causing damage to the tires of the man’s car. During the course of the investigation, Ettere was developed as a suspect. During an interview on Nov. 17, Ettere admitted to placing the nails.

The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 for each charge.
