County Executive Invites the Public to Oct. 1 Budget Address
How Putnam County will fund its "war on addiction" and its services for seniors and veterans in 2015 will be part of the presentation.
From the Putnam County Executive’s Office
County Executive MaryEllen Odell and Chairman of the Putnam County Legislature Carl Albano invite Putnam County residents to mark their calendars and plan to attend the unveiling of the 2015 Putnam County Budget. Odell will present her 2015 Budget Address at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the Putnam County Golf Course, 187 Hill Street, Mahopac, NY during a formal meeting of the Putnam County Legislature. As she did last year, Odell will introduce the budget in an open to the public slide show presentation.
While the format will be the same, the 2015 Budget Address message will be focused on Putnam’s newly declared War on Addiction and the County’s social and fiscal responsibilities to that endeavor as well as to its seniors and veterans while maintaining a budget below the Albany mandated two percent tax cap. Odell will explain how that two percent cap actually dwindles down to a 1.56 percent after the rate of inflation is factored into it.

“I will show our legislators and residents that Albany’s one size fits all mentality just doesn’t work. While I do support a tax cap, we just cannot continue to shoulder the burden of the unfunded mandates,” she said.
To counterbalance the cost of these mandates, Odell will show where the County is collecting its revenue and how it is managing its expenses.
