Cracked Windshield, Broken Taillight, Expired Inspection, No License

A Putnam Sheriff's Deputy stopped a motorist for traffic infractions.

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Yonkers man in Philipstown.

At 9:39 a.m. Monday, Deputy Sheriff Anthony Tolve stopped a motorist for traffic infractions on U.S. Route 9 in Philipstown. Police say the driver, identified as Robert E. Patton, 24, held a suspended license.

The deputy arrested Patton and charged him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, a misdemeanor. Mr. Patton was also ticketed for driving a vehicle with an expired inspection, cracked windshield and broken tail light.

He was processed at the scene and released in his own recognizance pending a future appearance in the Town of Philipstown Justice Court to answer the charge. If found guilty of the suspended driving offense, he could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000, police said.
