Danbury Man Faces Firearm Charge in Southeast

He has a Connecticut gun permit but not a New York gun permit.

Troopers from the Brewster Barracks arrested Kerzell Barnes of Danbury, CT for Criminal Possession of a Firearm at about 3 a.m. May 3.

Barnes’s vehicle was stopped for an inadequate plate lamp on I-684 in Southeast; and the trooper saw a black handgun on the back seat of the vehicle in plain view.

Barnes, 30, possess a valid pistol permit for the firearm in Connecticut but no pistol permit in New York, police said.

He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm (a class E Felony) and issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to Southeast town court May 14.
