Don't Miss: Great Swamp Neighborhood Get-together July 12

Six conservation organizations will co-host a neighborhood gathering to discuss topics facing local landowners in the Great Swamp Watershed on July 12.

It’s part of something called the H2H initiative, connecting property owners with information about the stewardship of land near local drinking water supplies.

On the 12th, participants can talk with neighbors and conservation professionals about a variety of topics including invasive species management, local water quality, and bird and wildlife-friendly land care.

This informal landowner event, hosted by Friends of the Great Swamp, Putnam County Land Trust, Housatonic Valley Association, Oblong Land Conservancy, Bedford Audubon Society, and Westchester Land Trust, is one of 13 similar inter-state and inter-town partnerships happening in New York and Connecticut as part of the Hudson to Housatonic (H2H) Conservation Initiative.

The H2H Initiative is engaging landowners in the stewardship of privately-owned land that buffers local drinking water supplies or may be climate resilient.

H2H is making resources available to local landowners across a four-county region made up of Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties in New York and Fairfield county in Connecticut. It is funded in part through a grant awarded by the U.S. Forest Service, Northeastern Area State and Private Forestry.
