At about 9 p.m. Nov. 21, Deputy Matthew Shelters, while on a STOP DWI Crackdown Enforcement Patrol Detail, said he saw a vehicle commit traffic violations in the area of Pudding Street and the Taconic State Parkway. Then he saw the vehicle, speeding, bounce off of a curb on the right side of the roadway, and slam into the center guard-rail. Deputy Shelters made contact with the driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle. Upon further investigation the officer concluded that the driver, 21-year-old Luis R. Deputy Shelters alleged that Alonzo-Santos resisted arrest. He was eventually placed into custody and transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility for processing. Police allege that while at the Putnam County Correctional Facility, Mr. Alonzo-Santos provided officers with a false name.
