Southeast-Brewster Election 2015 Results: Levy Concedes

Putnam Valley Town Supervisor Bob Tendy has defeated incumbent Adam Levy for the Putnam District Attorney seat. Both are Republicans.

As the results came in, Levy issued a statement:

I want to thank the people of Putnam for allowing me the privilege of serving as their District Attorney for the last eight years. I am proud of my record. Together with my fantastic team of ADAs and our partners in law enforcement, we have created a justice system in Putnam that is more advanced, more effective, and safer to work in than ever before.

I am proud to say I prosecuted the first public corruption and misconduct cases in Putnam in decades, and stood up to those who abused their power for personal gain. I took a lot of hits. But I believed in doing what was right, not what was easy.

Through all of this, there were many people who stood beside me. I wasn’t the only who suffered. My amazing wife Laurie has put up with much more than anyone should. My children dealt with reporters walking up to the windows of our home, and with classmates who repeated everything they read on the internet. Most of it wasn’t kind. The amazingly talented ADAs in my office have worked so hard, have also stood up for what’s right, and have suffered because of it. There is no way I could thank any of you enough, for all that you have been through to stand up for me.

Today, the people of Putnam County have decided it is time for a change in course.

In the words of former NYC mayor Ed Koch, “I’m the sort of person who will never get ulcers. Why? Because I say exactly what I think. I’m the sort of person who might give other people ulcers.”

I thank my family, I think my team, and I thank the people of Putnam County, for what has been one of the defining experiences of my life. I will never forget it. I’ll see you around.

The Putnam County Board of Elections is only reporting 50 percent of results in as of 11:47PM.
