Doansburg Chamber Ensemble

The Doansburg Chamber Ensemble will close their 2012 season with performances by their chamber orchestra on Saturday, September 1st at 7 p.m. at St. Mary in the Highlands Episcopal Church at the intersection of Routes 9D and 301 in Cold Spring, New York, and on Sunday, September 2nd at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church at 2103 Route 6, just west of Brewster, New York. These presentations will include performances of Symphony No. 24 in D Major by Haydn, Boccherini’s Symphony No. 5, G 505, Devienne’s Concerto No. 2 in D, and Symphony by J. Myslivecek.   Flutist, Christine Smith, will be the featured soloist.

Miss Smith is a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, Pre-College Division, and she holds a Masters Degree in Education.  She has also received a Certificate of Commendation for Meritorious Achievement from the School of Orchestral Studies.  Christine has toured England with the Stonybrook Wind Ensemble, and has performed at Paul Hall, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.  She regularly performs as a soloist with the Doansburg Chamber Ensemble, of which she is a charter member.  Her solo appearances have also included performances for U.S. Forest Service personnel at the Harding Ice Field in Alaska.  She has performed at Grace Church in White Plains on their Noontime Series, as well as performing with the St. Peter’s Chamber Orchestra.  Christine is currently conductor of the Putnam Symphony Orchestra, and she is the conductor of a number of vocal ensembles.
