The first annual Putnam Cycling Classic, a challenging recreational cycling event with 50k and 100k routes will start and finish at intersection of Main and High streets in Cold Spring, NY. The ride will be held as a Cyclosportif (or Gran Fondo) event format, which provides a professional racing atmosphere and chip-timed pro-quality racecourse for recreational cyclists. The technical organizer of the event is Sparta Cycling, known for their expertise in the pro racing world.
Sparta Cycling principal John Eustice described the event as a true UCI-quality racecourse where participants can go at their own pace or test themselves against their age group peers. “It is best to imagine the ride as a long bicycle park with safe cycling conditions and, of course, the beautiful and challenging terrain that Putnam County offers.
