MAHOPAC, NY — Robert Meyer, who was principal of Austin Road Elementary School for 23 years, has returned to the school to serve as interim principal through the end of June.

“I am happy that I was able to do it,” said Meyer. “Austin Road is an excellent school and Mahopac is a wonderful community.”

Meyer was principal at Austin Road from 1987 to 2010 and he is still well known in Mahopac.

“On my first day, about five kids came off the bus saying ‘You were principal when my mother was a student here,’” Meyer said. “I’m glad that I can provide a sense of continuity for the school’s staff and families.”

Meyer will stay through June 30, while the district seeks a replacement for Principal Bryan Gilligan, who left in early February.
