Fatal Construction Accident In Brewster

A co-worker called 911 after a Cortlandt man fell more than 10 feet from scaffolding.

BREWSTER, NY — A construction worker died in a fall from scaffolding Wednesday morning in Brewster, police said.

New York state police said they and Brewster village police were called to 899 Route 22 at about 7:30 a.m.

899 Route 22 is the address of Lia Honda.

Police said Keith P. Bonnes of Cortlandt Manor, had fallen 15-20 feet from Hydro Mobile scaffolding. A co-worker immediately contacted Putnam County 911 to report the incident. Moments later, Brewster EMS, EMStar Ambulance, and the Village of Brewster Police arrived on scene to rendered medical assistance.

Bonnes reportedly sustained a head and chest injury as a result of the fall. The 52-year-old was transported to Danbury Hospital by EMStar and was reported to be conscious. Upon his arrival to Danbury Hospital, he went into cardiac arrest and died.

The incident, which appears to be accidental in nature, remains under investigation, police said. Additionally, Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) was notified.
