Felony DWI Charge for 19-year-old Convicted of Drunk Driving in 2013

The Pawling teen was arrested after police found him asleep, behind the wheel, in the middle of a road in Southeast.

New York State Police from the Brewster barracks arrested 19-year-old Andres F. Valencia, of Pawling, NY, for Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st Degree, both Class E Felonies.

Valencia was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.

At about 6:56 a.m. March 14, state troopers were dispatched to Stallion Trail in Southeast for a suspicious vehicle complaint.

There they found a 2003 Toyota stopped in the roadway, impeding traffic. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Valencia, was sleeping behind the wheel. While interviewing the defendant, police observed clues that he was intoxicated.

They found that Valencia was operating the vehicle despite having a revoked driver’s license. He was also found to unlawfully possess an electronic stun gun.

He was charged with Felony DWI and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation when it was discovered that he had been convicted of a DWI-related offense in 2013.

Valencia was arraigned before the Town of Southeast Justice Court and sent to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court on April 16.
