Free Ear Acupuncture Clinic for Veterans and First Responders.

Putnam County Veterans Acupuncture Clinic invites veterans and first responders to a free clinic treating PTSD symptoms.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an invisible but devastating disorder brought on by traumatic experiences. What is traumatic for one person does not have to be traumatic for the next. PTSD is not a sign of weakness. It often affects not only the person that experienced the trauma, but also family and friends as the person may act out or withdraw from her/his loved ones.

Many times medicating the symptoms (anxiety, depression, insomnia etc.) or speaking with a mental healthcare professional can alleviate the symptoms. However many of the Veterans or First Responders affected do not have the resources to seek out help.

Putnam County Veterans Acupuncture Clinic (PCVAC) is the initiative of two locally based acupuncturists, Jo Anne Tenzer and Ellika Shilling, to provide free ear acupuncture treatments to help alleviate symptoms associated with PTSD.

Ear acupuncture is proven to alleviate symptoms of stress and trauma, and is an especially successful modality for treating PTSD. Treatments are given with the patients sitting in chairs placed in a circle. The supportive group dynamic makes the treatment very powerful.

PCVAC utilizes the five-needle protocol, known as the NADA protocol. The NADA protocol is frequently used for trauma and addictions in medical facilities around the world. All acupuncture needles used are sterile and disposable.
