Gunner's Mate 2nd Class Justin Biennis Serving on USS New York
The Putnam County native is taking weapons training while underway in the Atlantic.

ATLANTIC OCEAN (Dec. 18, 2014) - Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class Justin Blennis, a Carmel, N.Y., native stationed aboard San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21), participates in simulated weapon training while underway. USS New York is deployed as part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group/24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (IWO ARG/24MEU) in support of maritime security operations (MSO) and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility. The Iwo Jima ARG/24 MEU is comprised of embarked Marines from the 24th MEU, the multi-purpose amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), the amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43), and the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21).
