High-Speed Chase on I-684, I-84 Leads to DWI for Danbury Man in Southeast
New York State Police said he hit 100 mph.

SOUTHEAST, NY — A Danbury man faces charges after leading New York state police on a high-speed chase along I-684 and I-84 on Oct. 15.
State troopers charged Christopher Espinal, 22, with DWI and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, both Misdemeanors.
Police said they saw Espinal traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour on I-684.

He failed to stop for them and continued, merging onto I-84. There, he did stop and was placed in custody.
Espinal provided a breath sample that yielded a Blood Alcohol Content of .11 percent and was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear again Oct. 27.

In September, three people died in Danbury fleeing a traffic stop in New York. The chase started when a Putnam County sheriff's deputy tried to stop a car on Route 6 in Southeast for erratic driving and a suspected DWI. Two other passengers in the car were hospitalized after the crash.
