High Speed Chase Leads to Felony Charges for Danbury Man

Police say he tried to run down two New York state troopers while fleeing Putnam sheriff's deputies through Southeast.

SOUTHEAST, NY – A Danbury man faces felony charges after two New York state police officers were almost run down during a high-speed chase.

Adonis D. Castro-Espinal, 22, was the subject of a pursuit on Route 6 in Southeast on Dec. 4. Police said state troopers assisting the Putnam County Sheriff's Office deployed a tire deflation device — and as the fleeing vehicle approached, Castro-Espinal drove directly towards both troopers at approximately 100 miles per hour nearly striking them.

Both were able to jump out of the way and were not injured.
