The Hamlet of Carmel Civic Association has announced the schedule of events for this year’s annual “Holiday on the Lake” festivities, which will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014. The activities, all within the hamlet of Carmel, start with a Pancake Breakfast with Santa at the Carmel Firehouse from 9AM to 12PM. Reed Memorial Library will have Christmas music and crafts from 12PM to 1PM and a visit from Santa between 1PM and 2PM. From 3:00PM to 5:00PM, there will be caroling and hay rides at Cornerstone Park at the corner of Fair Street and Gleneida Avenue (Rt. 52); and children’s activities such as crafts and face painting at the Knights of Columbus Hall. At 4:00 PM the annual chowder tasting event will be held at the meeting room in Cornerstone Park. Throughout the day, the various churches in the Hamlet will be having bazars and holiday events. From 5:15PM to 6:45PM, there will be a concert featuring local artists at the Drew United Methodist Church hall. At 6:45 PM there will be a Santa Stroll down Gleneida Avenue to raise money for Cancer research. From 7:00PM to 8:00 PM, there will be an electric light parade through the hamlet featuring more than 40 floats. After the parade, spectators can enjoy caroling on the shore of Lake Gleneida with free doughnuts and hot chocolate. The activities will culminate with the lighting of 80 Christmas trees and an appearance by Santa from a nearby rooftop.
