Hospital Runaway | Unlicensed Driving: Carmel Police Blotter
Here are some of the incidents to which the Carmel Police Department recently responded.

On August 26, Carmel Police arrested David Berletic, 62, of Carmel after officers responded to Putnam
Hospital for a disorderly subject who fled into the woods nearby. After the officers located him in the
woods, he began swinging his cane at the officers and struck them with it. He was charged with
Menacing in the 2nd Degree, a misdemeanor, and Harassment in the 2nd Degree, a violation. He was
released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.
On August 29, Carmel Police arrested a 20 year old Wappingers Falls man after he was stopped for not
having a DOT number on his vehicle and the trailer that he was towing did not have an inspection sticker
on it. He was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree, a misdemeanor, and
Unlicensed Operator, Uninspected Motor Vehicle, Improper Plates, Switched Trailer Plates, and Safety
Requirements, all violations. He was released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.
On August 30, Carmel Police arrested a 33 year old North Adams, MA man after he was stopped for
running a red light. He was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, a
misdemeanor, and Unlicensed Operator and Failure to Stop at Steady Red Signal, both violations. He
was released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.

On August 31, Carmel Police arrested Christina Mauriello, 33, of Carmel after she turned herself in on an
active Arrest Warrant out of the Carmel Justice Court. She was arraigned by a judge and released on her
own recognizance pending a future court date.
On September 1, Carmel Police arrested Darese Hicks, 23, of Peekskill, after officers responded to a
physical dispute. During the investigation, it was determined that Mr. Hicks had an active Bench Warrant
out of Peekskill. He was arrested and turned over to Peekskill Police.

On September 2, Carmel Police arrested Gregory Bonadio, 26, of Danbury, CT after he turned himself in
on an active Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear out of the Carmel Justice Court. He was arraigned by a
judge and released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.
On September 2, Carmel Police arrested Frankie McCooey, 25, of Carmel after officers responded to a
physical dispute between neighbors. During investigation, it was determined that Mr. McCooey had
punched his neighbor several times in the face, resulting in physical injury. He was arraigned by a judge
and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,500 cash/bond.
On September 10, Carmel Police arrested a 17 year old Carmel man after he was stopped for having an
inoperable headlight. An odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle and a vehicle search resulted
in a quantity of marijuana being located inside the vehicle. He was charged with Unlawful Possession of
Marijuana and Inoperable Head Lamp, both violations. He was released on his own recognizance
pending a future court date.
On September 11, Carmel Police arrested James Pereira, 26, of Fishkill after he turned himself in on an
Active Arrest Warrant out of the Carmel Justice Court. He was arraigned by a judge and released on his
own recognizance pending a future court date.
On September 11, Carmel Police arrested Kelly Leonard, 33, of Pawling after it was determined that he
had an active Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear out of the Carmel Justice Court. She was arraigned by
a judge and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash/$5,000 bond.
On September 12, Carmel Police arrested Denis Murphy, 53, of Carmel after Kent Police contacted
Carmel to report that he was in their custody and it was determined that he had an active Bench
Warrant for Failure to Appear out of the Carmel Justice Court. He was arraigned by a judge and released
on his own recognizance pending a future court date.
On September 18, Carmel Police arrested a 43 year old Carmel woman after she was stopped for
speeding. She was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration, a
misdemeanor, and Speed in Zone, a violation. She was released on her own recognizance pending a
future court date.
On September 21, Carmel Police arrested a 34 year old Bronx man after he was stopped for having
inoperable brake lights. He was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree, a misdemeanor, and Unlicensed Operator and Inoperable Brake Lamps, both violations. $100 Police Bail was taken and he was released pending a future court date.
