How Long Will Heat Hang On: Brewster's Work Week Weather

Get the details about these crazy temps around Southeast plus the latest on Hurricane Maria.

SOUTHEAST, NY — Temperatures are expected to remain well above normal for the start of the work week. That will be true whether or not it's cloudy on Tuesday. However, relief should be coming by the end of the week.

"Our high temperature in Poughkeepsie on Sunday was 90°. That fell 1 degree short of the record. On Monday, we’ll take another shot at the record," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Maria, currently Category 1, continues churning up the East Coast. Any affects here — coastal flooding, rip tides, winds, waves — would be at the end of the week.

What we can look forward to: a cold front bringing relief later this week.

"The same cold front responsible for eventually steering Maria out to sea will be the front that breaks this streak of warmth across the Midwest and Northeast by the end of the week," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski said.
