To the Editor:
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the staff at the Brewster Public Library, I would like to thank the Brewster Rotary Club for their generous donation to the library, for the purchase of an automated external defibrillator (AED). These devices save many lives each year, and we are so pleased that our staff and patrons can now be secure in the knowledge that this technology is available should it ever be needed.

The AED will be kept at the main circulation desk, where it will be accessible to anyone in the library. The entire staff has been trained in its use, but the device is designed so that anyone would be able to use it. It actually talks the user through the steps of performing CPR and defibrillation.
Again, we are so grateful to the members of the Brewster Rotary; their support has enabled us to focus on our goal to provide high-quality materials and services to the community.
