Louise W. Chirasello, age 96, a lifelong Brewster resident, died on Wednesday in Purdys.
Born in Brewster on Dec. 16, 1915, Louise was the daughter of Wilburand Mary (Eastwood) Russell. She attended schools in Danbury, CT.
Louise married Joseph Chirasello on Sept. 27, 1937 in Danbury, CT. Mr. Chirasello died Dec. 21, 1986.

As a young lady, Louise was owner and operator of Lou’s Pet Shop in Brewster. She then worked as a nurse’s aid at Danbury Hospital for several years, and upon her good references from Danbury Hospital, she worked in central supply for Putnam Hospital Center during its early years. Later she retired from Putnam Hospital Center as an operating room technician.
Louise enjoyed gardening, shopping and occasional drives here and there. She loved refinishing antiques too.

Louise is survived by three daughters: Mary Montanaro of Longwood, FL;Gladys Fredericks and her husband James of Canaan, CT; and Joan Prisco of Brewster; nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her son, Ira Frank ‘Sonny’ Thomas, in 2009 and two grandchildren, Georgie Hall Jr. in 1973 and Cathy Powell in 2008.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday at in Brewster. Interment will follow at nearby St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Beecher Funeral Home (located at 1 Putnam Avenue in Brewster).
