Matilda “Tillie” Tarr of Brewster died Tuesday in Somers at the age of 88.
She was born Jan. 22, 1923, in Port Chester, daughter of the late Philip and Carmela (Pace) Perry. She graduated from Port Chester High School then married John C. Tarr at Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester on Aug. 5, 1944.

They moved to Brewster in 1958. Tarr worked for many years as a principal's secretary at . She and her husband were members of in Brewster.
Tarr was predeceased by her husband John on Jan. 13, 1983. She is survived by her two sons: John Tarr and his wife Elizabeth of Mahopac, and Richard Tarr and his wife Donna of Brewster; four sisters: Dorothy of Louisville, CO, Barbara of Micco, FL, Josephine of Barnegat, NJ, Angela of Cedar Grove, NJ; two brothers: Philip of North Palm Beach, FL, Richard of Barefoot Bay, FL; and six grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her daughter Joy Tartaglino in 1957.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church. Internment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Chester. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Beecher Funeral Home.
